Burns Night celebrated at CTI
Friday, January 24, 2020
As part of CTI international mindedness, CTI celebrated Burns Night, a fitting conclusion to the Scottish Week (check separate section). After the introduction read by Dea Abou Zeid, the address to the haggis read in labored Scottish by kilted Barkev Hejinian, and the prayer read by Christina Salamoun, it was time for bagpiping festivities. Guest of honor was Mr Tony Collins, in traditional garb and bagpipes. He explained about the instrument, and played bagpipe music, including the indispensable Auld Lang Syne. At the end, all students were treated to Scottish shortbread, and grade 10 went on to sample real haggis. CTI thanks Mr Tony Collins for his visit, Mrs Shona Barakat for organizing this initiative, and grade 10 for participating! |
